First sign of Autumn I have several batches of these delicious breads baking to share with friends and my family. I hope you enjoy this bread as much as we do. My photos

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 - eggs
  • 3 cups ap flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 1/2 cups semi - sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans - divided
  • 1 1/2 cups canned pumpkin, not mix
  • SPICED GLAZE
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3 tablespoons milk or heavy cream

How To Make harvest loaf

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Spray 2 - 9 x 5 loaf pans with non stick cooking spray and then flour.
  • Step 2
    In a medium bowl, beat butter until smooth. Add sugar; beat until fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Step 3
    Sift together dry ingredients; add to butter mixture alternately with pumpkin, ending with flour mixture.
  • Step 4
    Stir in chocolate chips and one cup pecans.
  • Step 5
    Spoon into pans evenly. Sprinkle with remaining pecans.
  • Step 6
    Bake for 65 - 70 minutes, or until pick comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes in pans; remove to wire racks.
  • Step 7
    Spice glaze: Mix ingredients together until desired consistency is reached.
  • Step 8
    Glaze with spice glaze while still warm.
