Ingredients

  • 1-8 oz
    softened cream cheese
  • 3/4 c
    softened unsalted butter
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 2 large
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 4 medium
    ripe bananas, smashed
  • 3 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    each - baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon
  • 2 c
    chopped pecans or walnuts
  • GLAZE

  • 3 Tbsp
    orange juice, fresh
  • 1 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 1 tsp
    orange zest

How to Make ~ Banana Born & Bred ~

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degree F.

    Spray two 8 Inch x 4 Inch loaf pans with bakers secret or grease and flour. Set aside.

    In a large bowl, cream together the cream cheese, sugar and butter, until fluffy.

    Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add bananas and vanilla and thoroughly beat.
  2. In a med bowl, toss together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and baking powder. Add a little at a time to the wet mixture. Stir in 1 cup of nuts.
  3. Measure batter evenly into the bread pans. Sprinkle the tops with remaining nuts.
  4. Bake for 1 hour and 10 - 15 minutes or until pick inserted in center comes out clean.

    Mix glaze ingredients, making sure of no lumps.
  5. After about 10 minutes remove loaves from pans and sit upright on cooling rack.

    Pour glaze evenly over top of bread while lukewarm.
  6. Cool, cut and enjoy!
