How To Make guinness molasses bread with maple butter
-
1Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees. Generously grease a 9 X 5 inch loaf pan. Set aside. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar and salt. Slowly pour the Guinness into the flour mixture. Using a wooden spoon, start incorporating the beer into the dry ingredients and when you are about halfway done, add the molasses. Finish stirring until everything is well combined, but being careful not to over work the batter (you want to preserve the carbonation from the beer).
-
2Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan. Transfer to your pre-heated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in it’s loaf pan for about 10 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to finish cooling. Allow it to cool completely before slicing. Once cooled, the bread can be wrapped and stored at room temperature for 2-3 days.
-
3While the bread is baking, make your maple butter. Make sure the butter is very soft before you start. Mix the butter with the maple syrup and salt until well combined and smooth (a hand mixer is great for this task). Transfer the maple butter to a small container. Store at room temperature for 1-2 days, or in your refrigerator for up to 1-2 weeks.
