- - 1/2 cup butter,softened
- - 1/2 cup sugar
- - 1 large egg,beaten
- - 21/2 cup self-rising flour
- - 1 tsp.cinn.
- - 1 tsp.ginger
- - 1/2 tsp.clove
- - 1/2 tsp.salt >only if using plain flour
- - 11/2 tsp.baking soda >only if using plain flour
- - 1 cup molasses
- - 1 cup hot water

Step 1Cream shortening,sugar.Add beaten egg. Measure and sift dry ingredients mix molasses with hot water. Add dry ingredients alternately with liquid beat after each addition.Bake in a loaf pan that has been greased and floured. Bake at 350* for 45 mins. until done.
