english currant scones
I'm originally from Edmonton, Alberta Canada and was raised by my grandparents who are of British ancestry, this recipe has been passed down for generations. You may substitute raisins for the currants.

Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons baking powder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup raisins or currants
- 1 - egg
- 2/3 cup milk
How To Make english currant scones

Step 1Mix ingredients together to form a dough, roll out dough to a 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out with a large cookie cutter or in any shape you wish...my mom always cuts hers in triangles.

Step 2Brush the top of the scones with milk and sprinkle sugar on top and bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes.
