1 pkg[8 ounces] pitted dates
1 1/4 cboiling water
1 1/2 cbrown sugar, firmly packed
6 Tbspbutter, room temperature
2 1/4 csifted all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tspbaking powder
1 1/2 tspsalt
How to Make Date Tea Bread
- cut dates in small pieces into medium-size bowl,pour boilling water over.Stir in sugar and butter until butter melts,cool.Stier in beaten egg.
- Sift flour,soda,and salt onto wax paper,stier into date mixture just until blended.pour into greased loaft pan.let stand 15 min.
- Bake in moederate oven[350f 1 hour and 10 min,or until wooden pick inserted deep into loft comes out clean, cool in pan 5 min,turn out on wire rack,cool completely.
- wrap in wax paper, foil,or trasparent wrap,store at least 1 day before slicing.
