[8 ounces] pitted dates
1 1/4 c
boiling water
1 1/2 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
6 Tbsp
butter, room temperature
egg beaten
2 1/4 c
sifted all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp
baking powder
1 1/2 tsp

How to Make Date Tea Bread


  • 1cut dates in small pieces into medium-size bowl,pour boilling water over.Stir in sugar and butter until butter melts,cool.Stier in beaten egg.
  • 2Sift flour,soda,and salt onto wax paper,stier into date mixture just until blended.pour into greased loaft pan.let stand 15 min.
  • 3Bake in moederate oven[350f 1 hour and 10 min,or until wooden pick inserted deep into loft comes out clean, cool in pan 5 min,turn out on wire rack,cool completely.
  • 4wrap in wax paper, foil,or trasparent wrap,store at least 1 day before slicing.
