How to Make Date and Nut Bread
- Cut up dates in a bowl, cover with 1 1/2 cups hot water (from the tap) and baking soda. Set aside.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and mix well. Add salt, nuts and vanilla and mix well. Add dates and liquid. Then add flour and mix well.
- Bake in greased and floured loaf pans in 350 degree oven. Bake for 40 to 55 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool 20 to 25 minutes.
