Ingredients For dark chocolate banana bread

  • 1 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    Dutch process cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    espresso powder or instant coffee
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 3 - 4 md
    bananas
  • 3/4 c
    light brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream
  • 1/4 c
    canola oil
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 11/4 c
    chocolate chips, any type
  • 1/2 c
    chopped walnuts, if desired

How To Make dark chocolate banana bread

    Grease a loaf pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    In a bowl, whisk together flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, espresso powder, and cocoa. Set the bowl aside.

    In another bowl, mix sugar, bananas, sour cream, vanilla, oil, and egg. Mix well.

    Mix the bowl of dry ingredients into the bowl of banana mixture. Stir together well.

    Stir in 3/4 cup of chocolate chips. Mix in nuts if desired.

    Sprinkle remaining chocolate chips over the loaf evenly.

    Place in the oven and bake for approximately 1 hour. It may take a few minutes longer, depending on your oven. Check with a toothpick for doneness.

    Cool on a rack. Remove the loaf from the pan. Cut into slices and serve.
