  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/3 c
  • 1
  • 2
  • 1/2 c
  • 1/2 c
  • 1 tsp
    grated lemon rind
  • 2-1/4 c
  • 1/3 c
  • 1/3 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 c
    chopped walnuts

How to Make Cream Cheese Filled Nut Bread


  1. Combine cream cheese, sugar and 1 egg and beat well.
    Set aside.
  2. Beat remaining 2 eggs in mixing bowl until frothy.
    Mix in cooking oil, milk and lemon rind.
  3. Measure remaining 6 ingredients into a separate bowl.
    Mix well. Pour all at once into egg-milk mixture. Stir until moistened
  4. Spoon 1/2 batter into greased 9 X 5 inch loaf pan.
    Spoon on cheese mixture.
    Cover with remaining batter by dropping small spoonfuls here and there.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
    Cool 15 minutes in pan and then cool on rack.
