I love banana bread recipes...the different the better. This is adapted from a Southern Living magazine. Gonna make it today...sounds so yummy with the cream cheese and topping!!

baking soda

baking powder

mashed bananas (about 4 medium)

pure vanilla extract

packed brown sugar

How to Make Cream Cheese Banana Bread


  • 1Preheat oven to 350F grease and flour 2-8"x4" loaf pans.
  • 2Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside
  • 3Using an electric mixer, beat together butter and cream cheese until creamy. Gradually add sugar mixing until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing just until blended.
  • 4Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture, beating on low speed until blended. Stir in bananas, pecans and vanilla extract.
  • 5Divide batter evenly into prepared pans.
  • 6To make the topping, combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Sprinkle evenly over batter in both loaf pans.
  • 7Bake 1 hr, or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean. If necessary, cover pans loosely with foil for the last 15 minutes to prevent excess browning.
  • 8Cool breads in pan on wire racks for 10 minutes. Remove from pans to cool completely.
