This is a favorite bread recipe of my family!!! They love having it for breakfast -- but it makes a great dessert too!!

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups enriched (unbleached) flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 5 tablespoons chilled unsalted butter
  • 6 tablespoons half and half
  • 1 - large egg
  • 1/2 cup fresh or dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup vanilla or white chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice (opt. if using dried cranberries)

How To Make cranberry and white chocolate scones

  • Step 1
If using dried cranberries, put cranberries and orange juice in small bowl for 5-20 minutes so juice soaks into cranberries. In bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and butter. Add half and half, egg, cranberries and white chocolate chips and stir until dough holds together.
  • Step 2
Turn out on lightly floured surface, and gently knead for 2 minutes. Form into 1/2 inch thick round ball cut into 8 wedges. Spray baking sheet with baking spray oil and put wedges onto sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 14 minutes or until golden brown.
