Ingredients
- 1 cup yellow corn meal
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 TBSP + ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup butter, melted and cooled
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 teaspoon water
How To Make corn bread

Step 1In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients, you may need to break up any clumps of brown sugar with your fingers.

Step 2In a 4 cup measuring cup or medium bowl whisk the milk, egg and butter until smooth.

Step 3Add the wet ingredients from the measuring cup or medium bowl to the dry ingredients and stir 3 or 4 times just to get the liquid mixed in. Allow to rest 10-15 minutes.

Step 4Preheat oven to 400°F, for an 8 or 9 inch cast iron skillet or metal cake pan season with a dab of butter and allow it to heat in the oven. If using a glass baking dish, spray with non stick spray and set aside.

Step 5In a small bowl, mix the honey and water until evenly incorporated and set aside.

Step 6After the mixture has rested mix once then transfer to the baking vessel of choice, carefully if using a hot pan.

Step 7Spread mixture evenly and use a basting brush or drizzle the honey mixture over the top, not enough to saturate just enough to evenly coat it.

Step 8Bake for about 20 minutes or until the top is a rich golden brown. Allow to cool for about 5 minutes before slicing.
