yield 15 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 packages rapid rise yeast
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 5-6 cups bread flour
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 2-3 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
  • 2/3 cup raisins (optional)

How To Make cinnamon rolls

  • Step 1
Scald Milk. Remove from heat and add Butter and Salt.
  • Step 2
While Milk is cooling, add Sugar and Yeast in small bowl. Let sit for about 5 minutes.
  • Step 3
Once Milk mixture is lukewarm, add it to about 3 cups of Flour and add Yeast mixture.
  • Step 4
Mix ingredients and add flour until dough can be kneaded. Knead until elastic. Put dough in a large greased bowl cover with greased plastic wrap and let rise until doubled. (About 1 hour)
  • Step 5
Punch dough down and turn onto a floured surface. Roll out until dough is about 1/3 inch thick.
  • Step 6
Spread melted butter onto the dough. Top with brown sugar and cinnamon. Add Raisins and nuts.
  • Step 7
Roll dough up tightly and seal edges. Cut in 15 equal pieces. Place in jelly-roll pan covered with greased aluminum foil. Gently push down on rolls to form.
  • Step 8
Let rise for about 30 minutes and bake in a 375 degree oven for abou 25 minutes or until they are just golden.
  • Step 9
Frost with frosting consisting of powdered sugar, melted butter, milk or cream and 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla. You can make the frosting as thick as you wish. If you frost with half of the frosting just as soon as the rolls come out of the oven, the frosting will melt into the middle of the rolls. Then add the other half of the frosting as soon as the rolls cool.
