Ingredients For cinnamon rolls

  • DOUGH
  • 1/2 c
    granlated sugar
  • 1/2 c
    vegetable oil
  • 2 c
    milk scalded
  • 4 3/4 c
    flour divided
  • 1 Tbsp
    instant yeast
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • FILLING
  • 12 Tbsp
    butter, softened
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cardamom
  • ICING
  • 2 oz
    whipped cream cheese
  • 1/2 c
    softened butter
  • 2 Tbsp
    heavy cream, more if necessary
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp
    salt

How To Make cinnamon rolls

    In a bowl of a stand mixer, add the sugar and oil. Pour in the scalded milk and mix. Let the mixture sit for 15 minutes.

    Add 4 cups of flour and sprinkle the yeast on the top. Mix until no dry streaks left.

    Scrape down the bowl and cover the bowl and let rest 1 hour. Until it doubles.

    Add the remaining 3/4 cup flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.

    Scrape down the bowl and place the dough in an oiled bowl. Cover and let rest 1 hour.

    Roll the dough using a little flour into a 12 X 18 rectangle. Spread the butter over the top of the dough.

    Combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, and cardamom. Sprinkle it evenly over the butter.

    Roll up from the long end. It should be about 20 inches.

    Cut into 12 even pieces. Place on parchment lined paper. Cover with sprayed plastic wrap and let set 1 hour.

    Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Remove the plastic wrap and bake about 20 minutes. Let cool completely before frosting.

    To make the frosting, beat the butter and cream cheese together. Add the salt and heavy cream. Mix in the vanilla. Mix the powdered sugar in, adding a little more cream if needed.

    Frost the rolls.
