These are among my most loved and appreciated desserts. They are requested often. I use my Sweet Roll Dough recipe, http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/bread/sweet-bread/sweet-roll-dough.html previously posted, and follow directions below. As always, if you want to know how many calories these are, it is unlikely that you want them at all! You may want to avoid them all toghether, or just ask someone for a bite! My family loves these. Please don't be put off by prep. time...rising time included!

Ingredients

  • 1 - sweet roll dough (prepared) https://www.justapinch.com/recipes/bread/sweet-bread/sweet-roll-dough.html
  • 1 - cinnamon roll filling
  • CINNAMON ROLL FILLING:
  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) (optional)
  • VANILLA BUTTERCREAM GLAZE
  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk

How To Make cinnamon rolls

  • Step 1
When dough is ready (indentation will remain when dough is touched with your finger), then roll it out in a rectangle shape, about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Step 2
Mix thoroughly together the filling ingredients above. Spread it liberally over the dough. Begin on the long side nearest you and roll the dough into a cylinder shape, trying to keep it secure, without being too tight, and uniform in size.
  • Step 3
With a string, wire or a sharp knife, slice into slices about 3/4 inches thick. Place about 2-3 inches apart on a vegetable sprayed cookie sheet or sweet roll pan. Cover with a clean towel, paper towels, or loose plastic wrap and allow to rise in a warm, draft free place for about 40 minutes. Rolls should about double in size. Bake in a 350F oven for about 25 minutes. Frost with Vanilla Buttercream Glaze while still quite warm.
