    shortening
  • 1 c
    sugar

    eggs
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 2-3
    ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour (or for whole wheat, use whole wheat white flour)
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2/3 c
    dark chocolate chips
  • 2/3 c
    chopped walnuts

How To Make chunky monkey banana bread

    Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed of electric mixer until light and fluffy.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    Stir in mashed bananas, milk and vanilla.

    Combine flour, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture, mixing well.

    Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.

    Spoon batter into a greased and floured 9 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 55-60 minutes.
