Who doesn’t like warm chocolate and bananas in a quick bread? Add in some chocolate chips, and now it’s even better. Very ripe bananas, cocoa powder, and butter make this quick bread a hit in my household. The smell in my house was divine!

Ingredients

  • 4 medium very ripe bananas
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or almond extract
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon allspice, ground
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

How To Make chocolatey banana bread with chocolate chips

  • Step 1
    Secure a 5 x 9“ glass loaf pan. Grease it with butter or cooking spray and set it aside.
  • Step 2
    To a large mixing bowl, add ripe bananas, brown sugar, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. I used almond extract, but you can do either or. Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Step 3
    To a medium Pyrex mixing bowl, add flour, baking soda, salt, and allspice. Whisk until all is combined thoroughly.
  • Step 4
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Pour into the greased, prepared loaf pan.
  • Step 5
    Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. It should be dark and delicious.
  • Step 6
    Let cool on the countertop on a hot pad for 15 minutes. Slice and serve warm. Refrigerate any leftovers.
