This is so easy and tastes great right out of the oven.Chocolate adds a bit of sweatness too. This makes one loaf and is great for any meal.

4 call purpose flour
-
1/4 csugar
-
3 tspbaking powder
-
1 tspbaking soda
-
1 tspsalt
-
1/4 cbutter, softened
-
1 craisins
-
1/2 csemi-sweet chocolate chips
-
1 1/3 cbuttermilk or milk
-
1egg
-
1egg yolk
-
1 Tbspwater
How to Make Chocolate Irish Soda Bread
- Combine in bowl flour,sugar,baking powder, baking soda and salt. Using 2 knives,cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in raisins and chocolate chips.
- In a bowl combine milk and egg and beat well. Add to flour mixture and stir till dry ingredients are moistened.
- On floured surface knead dough about 3 minutes and then shape into flattened ball.
- Place on greased cookie sheet or baking pan to fit.Put an X on top of dough with a sharp knife about 1/2 inch deep.
- Combine egg yolk and water and brush on top of bread.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 50-60 minutes till golden.
