Ingredients
- 4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/3 cups buttermilk or milk
- 1 - egg
- 1 - egg yolk
- 1 tablespoon water
How To Make chocolate irish soda bread

Step 1Combine in bowl flour,sugar,baking powder, baking soda and salt. Using 2 knives,cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 2Stir in raisins and chocolate chips.

Step 3In a bowl combine milk and egg and beat well. Add to flour mixture and stir till dry ingredients are moistened.

Step 4On floured surface knead dough about 3 minutes and then shape into flattened ball.

Step 5Place on greased cookie sheet or baking pan to fit.Put an X on top of dough with a sharp knife about 1/2 inch deep.

Step 6Combine egg yolk and water and brush on top of bread.

Step 7Bake at 375 degrees for 50-60 minutes till golden.
