chocolate chip scones with nutella glaze

Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 5 tablespoons butter, unsalted cold cut into chunks
- 1 cup heavy cream, cold plus more for brushing the scones
- 1-1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
- FOR GLAZE
- 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
- 2 tablespoons nutella or hazellnut spread
- 1/4+ cup milk or cream
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon butter
How To Make chocolate chip scones with nutella glaze

Step 1Preheat oven 400 f Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Using a pastry blender, cut in cold butter with four. The mixture should look like coarse crumbs.

Step 2Make a well in the flour and pour in heavy cream. Fold everything together just to incorporate. Do not over work the dough.

Step 3Fold in chocolate chips. Turn out onto a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Shape into a 8 inch circle about 1/4 inch thick.

Step 4Cut dough into 8 wedges. Separate wedges about two inches apart. Brush scones with cream. Bake in oven for 15-18 minutes or until light golden. Do not over bake. Let scones cool for at least 20 minutes before applying glaze.

Step 5FOR GLAZE Sift confectioners sugar in a microwave bowl. Sir in cream and mix well. Add Nutella and stir until all is combined, adding more cream if too thick. Stir in vanilla and add the butter.

Step 6Microwave on high for 30 seconds. Whisk to smooth out lumps. Heat additional 10 seconds if butter not melted. Drizzle glaze over scones. Let set for 5 mins.
