I know this sounds like a crazy combination. But it is so good and moist. My father in law loves it. He is quite disappointed if I show up at his house without one in hand. I always make several and send home with those attending our Thanksgiving dinner.

15-16 oz. pumpkin

granulated sugar
3-1/3 c

baking soda
1-1/2 tsp
1 tsp

chocolate chips or mini chocolate chips

How to Make Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread


  • 1Combine in large mixing bowl the eggs, water, vegetable oil, pumpkin and the sugar. Set aside.
  • 2Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Add by cupful(s) to the wet ingredients. Add the chocolate chips last. Pour into greased loaf pans and bake at 350 degrees for 45-55 minutes.

  • 4Bake at 350 degrees for 45-55 minutes or until toothpick tests done in the center.
  • 5Cool in pan on wire rack for an hour before turning out of pan. Freezes well. Double batches work well.
