chocolate banana bread
Comfort food that blends two favorite flavors - chocolate and banana. Adapted from the Chicago Tribune with a few tweaks. You can substitute apple sauce for all or half of the oil to cut calories and fat. Make it dessert by serving with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream or as a base for strawberries!

Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup grapeseed oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 large bananas, very ripe
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 1/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
How To Make chocolate banana bread

Step 1Preheat oven to 350ºF and grease and flour 2 large loaf pans or 4 mini loaf pans (or use pan spray for baking.)

Step 2Combine dry ingredients. Set aside.

Step 3Combine brown sugar, eggs, oil, vanilla, milk and mashed bananas until smooth.

Step 4Gradually beat in dry ingredients, then add chocolate chips and nuts.

Step 5Divide batter into either 2 or 4 pans. Bake for 30-50 minutes, depending on what size pans you used. Check that toothpick comes clean at the earliest time, bake longer if necessary.
