Cherry Nut Coffee Cake

This luscious coffee cake will typically have a cracked top and a delicate pink color.

1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream


1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 jar maraschino cherries, drained and cut into small pieces, 16 oz
1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon


1Grease and flour a flat bottomed tube pan.
2In large bowl, mix together sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, butter and eggs. Fold in sour cream. Pour 1/2 batter into pan
3. Mix topping ingredients of sugar, pecans, cherries and cinnamon. Sprinkle 1/2 topping mixture over batter in pan.
4Pour remaining batter into pan. Sprinkle with remaining topping. Bake at 375 for 30 to 45 minutes or til wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Makes 10 to 12 servings.
