1Preheat oven to 350F..grease and flour four pans that are 8 in x 4 inch x 2 in.
2In large mixing bowl cream butter and sugar until creamy..add egg yolks, vanilla and lemon zest mix well.. combine baking powder , baking soda and flour add to the butter mix alternately with the buttermilk just til blended..[BATTER WILL BE THICK} in separate bowl beat egg whites til stiff peaks for fold into batter...fold cherries and nuts into batter.
3Transfer the batter in equal amounts into prepared pans and bake 50 to 55 minutes. or when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean..cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to rack....these freeze well..wrap in saran and foil to freeze.
4In the list of ingredients it says 2 jars.. the cherries was left out when making up the list of ingredients..so this is to be added into the list of ingredients.
