Ingredients

  • HAM PREPARATION

  • 3 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/4 c
    apple juice
  • 1 lb
    ham steak about 1 inch thick
  • BREAD

  • 3 c
    a/p flour
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    applesauce
  • 3/4 c
    white sugar
  • 3/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 2
    eggs beaten
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2 c
    apples chopped into small pieces
  • 1 c
    raisins
  • 1/4 c
    honey

How to Make Breakfast Bread

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven at 350 degrees. Grease or line two bread pans. Mix together the ingredients to cook the ham in. Brown sugar and cinnamon and apple juice and pour into a skillet large enough to cook the ham. Brown the ham and let the syrup get a little sticky on the ham.
  2. Remove the ham and let it cool.
  3. Sift together the a/p flour, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, salt, white sugar. Set aside.
  4. Combine the applesuace brown sugar eggs vanilla and chopped apples honey and raisins. Set aside
  5. Dice the ham.
  6. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and sprinkle the diced ham over the top of the two loaves and with a spoon press into the bread. Bake for 50 minutes or until a tooth pick comes out clean.
  7. Let cool and run a knife around the edge of the pan to release the bread.
