better than grandma's banana bread

Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup butter or margerine(1 stick)
- 3 large mashed ripe bananas
- 2 large beaten eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 1/3 cups flour
- 2/3 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1/2 cup applesauce, unsweetened

Step 1cream sugar, butter, vanilla extract and salt

Step 2add eggs, bananas and applesauce. beat just till mixed.

Step 3add flour, baking soda and spices. mix lightly. add nuts and mix just till blended.

Step 4pour into greased loaf pan. bake in preheated 325 degree oven for 60 to 70 minutes till golden brown and knife inserted in center comes out clean.

Step 5remove from pan immediately and cool. drizzle with powdered sugar icing if desired.
