Best Ever Banana Bread

I found this recipe in one of those weekly magazines found in the check-out line. I did tweak it a little to make it my own. It is awesome! Whenever I make it (it makes two) I freeze one and we eat one. It is usually gone within hours.

1 3/4 c
all purpose flour
1/4 tsp
1 tsp
baking soda
1 1/2 stick
butter or margarine
1 1/2 c
granualted sugar
1/4 c
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1/2 c
chopped walnuts
1 c
well mashed, overripe bananas (about 2)
1/4 tsp
banana extract (optional)


1 c
confectioners' sugar
2-3 Tbsp
lemon juice

How to Make Best Ever Banana Bread


  • 1Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and flour two 8 1/2 by 4 1/2 inch loaf pans. Mix flour, salt and baking soda. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • 2Add flour mixture and buttermilk, alternating. Beat batter for 2-3 minutes. Add vanilla, nuts and bananas. Spoon into pans. Bake about 50 minutes til toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  • 3For the glaze, stir confectioners' sugar and lemon juice together until smooth. Pour over cooled loaves. These are so delicious.
