These are such a light sweet dessert that is always a big hit. I didn't specify how big to cut the beignets because it is totally up to you how big you want them. I like to do them about bite size.

Ingredients

  • 1 - egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 can sugar
  • 1/4 tablespoon salt
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil

How To Make beignets

  • Step 1
    Mix egg, milk, sugar, and vegetable oil in a bowl. Sift together salt, flour, and baking powder; add to egg mixture.
  • Step 2
    Mix, adding enough flour to make a soft dough. Turn out onto a lightly floured, clean work surface; roll out and cut.
  • Step 3
    Place into deep hot oil heated to 360*, fry until fluffy (turning only once). Top with powdered sugar.
