This is a recipe passed down for generations. I added the topping just a few years ago ;) Banana bread - always a pleaser!

Ingredients

  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup mashed banana
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup pecans (or walnuts)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • STREUSEL-NUT-TOPPING (IF DESIRED)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup pecans (or walnuts)

How To Make banana bread

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom and 1/2 inch up the side of your loaf pan.
  • Step 2
    In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking soda.
  • Step 3
    In a small bowl cream eggs and butter. Then beat in banana with mixer. Add egg mixture to flour mixture. Combine, then fold in nuts.
  • Step 4
    Bake for 1 hour. Note: Check at about 40 minutes, if your loaf is browning too quickly put a foil tent over the top.
  • Step 5
    STREUSEL-NUT-TOPPING Combine 1/4 cup packed brown sugar and 3 tablespoons flour. Using a pastry blender cut in 2 tablespoons butter. Stir in 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans. Put over top of batter.
