This is a recipe passed down for generations. I added the topping just a few years ago ;) Banana bread - always a pleaser!

Ingredients

eggs
2 c
flour
2 c
sugar
1 c
mashed banana
1/2 c
butter
1/2 c
pecans (or walnuts)
1 tsp
baking soda
1/2 tsp
salt

STREUSEL-NUT-TOPPING (IF DESIRED)

1/4 c
brown sugar, packed
3 Tbsp
flour
2 Tbsp
butter
1/2 c
pecans (or walnuts)

How to Make Banana Bread

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom and 1/2 inch up the side of your loaf pan.
  • 2In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking soda.
  • 3In a small bowl cream eggs and butter. Then beat in banana with mixer. Add egg mixture to flour mixture. Combine, then fold in nuts.
  • 4Bake for 1 hour.
    Note: Check at about 40 minutes, if your loaf is browning too quickly put a foil tent over the top.
  • 5STREUSEL-NUT-TOPPING
    Combine 1/4 cup packed brown sugar and 3 tablespoons flour. Using a pastry blender cut in 2 tablespoons butter. Stir in 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans. Put over top of batter.
