This is a recipe passed down for generations. I added the topping just a few years ago ;) Banana bread - always a pleaser!

Ingredients

  • 2
    eggs
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    mashed banana
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    pecans (or walnuts)
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • STREUSEL-NUT-TOPPING (IF DESIRED)

  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar, packed
  • 3 Tbsp
    flour
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    pecans (or walnuts)

How to Make Banana Bread

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom and 1/2 inch up the side of your loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking soda.
  3. In a small bowl cream eggs and butter. Then beat in banana with mixer. Add egg mixture to flour mixture. Combine, then fold in nuts.
  4. Bake for 1 hour.
    Note: Check at about 40 minutes, if your loaf is browning too quickly put a foil tent over the top.
  5. STREUSEL-NUT-TOPPING
    Combine 1/4 cup packed brown sugar and 3 tablespoons flour. Using a pastry blender cut in 2 tablespoons butter. Stir in 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans. Put over top of batter.
