This is my grandma's recipe It's the best banana bread ever, it's soft and moist and yummy with a cup or so of chocolate chips.

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter flavor shortening
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 1/2 c
    mashed bananas (about 3-4 bananas)
  • 1 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 3 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt

How to Make Banana Bread

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. In a large bowl cream shortening and sugar, add eggs one at a time, add vanilla, banana, and lemon juice.
  3. In a medium bowl sift together flour, baking soda, and salt. Add flour mixture to banana mixture in three additions beat until just combine.
  4. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9" by 5" metal loaf pan and until a toothpick inserted comes out clean about 50-55 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes in pan, remove from pan and cool completely on a wire rack.
