This was my Mom's recipe and I make it whenever I have a couple of over ripe bananas.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups flour, sifted
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup mashed bananas
- 1/2 cup sour milk*
- 1/2 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
How To Make banana bread

Step 1Cream shortening, then add sugar. Beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time and beat well after each addition. In another bowl, mix dry ingredients. In a third bowl, mix bananas and sour milk. Add dry ingredients alternately with banana mixture to shortening/sugar mix. Stir in nuts and pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.

Step 2*Add a small amount of vinegar to fresh milk to curdle.
