We first had Johnny Cake on our honeymoon in The Bahamas. We loved it so much I just had to learn how to make it at home!

Ingredients
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 3/4 cup white corn meal
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 5 teaspoons baking powder
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup milk
How To Make bahamian johnny cake

Step 1Preheat oven to 350F. Mix all dry ingredients together. Add egg, milk and oil to dry mixture and blend well.

Step 2Pour into greased (8 inch) square pan or 2 (8 inch) loaf pans. Bake 30-35 minutes until slightly brown on top. Serve hot or cold with butter, honey or preserves.
