Ingredients For aunt lynda's cream cheese filled banana bread

  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 2
    eggs

    mashed ripe bananas
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 3 Tbsp
    sour cream
  • 2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 c
    chopped nuts
  • CREAM CHEESE MIXTURE:
  • 8 oz
    softened cream cheese
  • 1/3 c
    sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 Tbsp
    all-purpose flour
  • OPTIONAL TOPPING
  • 1 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • chop nuts for sprinkling

How To Make aunt lynda's cream cheese filled banana bread

  • Mixing sugar, butter, and eggs.

    Mix 1 cup sugar, butter, and 2 eggs.
  • Bananas, salt, baking soda, and sour cream added to the bowl.

    Add bananas, salt, and the baking soda dissolved in sour cream.
  • Adding flour.

    Add 2 cups flour and mix well.
  • Folding in nuts.

    Fold in nuts.
  • Cream cheese filling ingredients combined in a bowl.

    In a separate bowl, mix the cream cheese mixture ingredients.
  • Half the banana bread batter in the loaf pans.

    Spread half of the banana batter in two greased and floured pans.
  • Cream cheese mixture spread over the banana bread batter.

    Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the banana batter in both pans.
  • Remaining batter, nuts, and cinnamon sugar added to the loaf pan.

    Spread the remaining banana bread batter on top. PS - I like to sprinkle a few extra nuts on top. Or, sprinkle top with 1 Tbsp sugar mixed with 1/2 tsp cinnamon before baking. Makes a nice crunchy top. But that's totally optional.

    Bake at 350 for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Test for doneness.
