applesauce raisin loaf

Early in my marriage money was tight and I love to give gifts. I started baking breads and cookies as a way to give something thoughtful that didn't cost an arm and a leg. This bread was one of my friends favorites and it's so easy.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups applesauce, unsweetened
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 - beaten egg
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup raisins
How To Make applesauce raisin loaf

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Step 2grease loaf pan

Step 3combine applesauce and baking soda in small bowl--set side.(this mixture sizzles and foams)

Step 4cream butter and sugar in large bowl

Step 5stir in egg, cinnamon, salt and cloves

Step 6blend in applesauce mix (this will appear to be curdled).

Step 7mix in flour slowly until mix is smooth.

Step 8fold in raisins and pour into greased pan

Step 9bake 65-70 minutes. Cool in pan for 10 munutes then invert onto cooling rack.
