A to Z Bread



My Grandmother gave me this recipe many years ago, I know she made many of them,not sure about eggplant,tapioca,tomato or yogurt,but probably the remaining ones. I remember the lemon bread as being one of her favorites.
Come up with your own A to Z and let me know.
There is no i,j,k,n,q,u,v, or w.
I'm thinking quince jam for q
nuts,additional 1/2 c for n (is that cheating?)
jam for j
walnuts for w (pushing it ???)

    3/4 c sugar
  • ·
    1 c oil
  • ·
    3 eggs
  • ·
    2 c of a to z
  • ·
    3 c flour
  • ·
    1 t. salt
  • ·
    1 t. baking soda
  • ·
    3 t. cinnamon
  • ·
    3 t. vanilla
  • ·
    1 c nuts

How to Make A to Z Bread


  1. In a bowl, combine the sugar, oil and eggs. Stir in A to Z ingredients of your choice and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients; stir into liquid ingredients just until moistened. Stir in nuts. Pour into two greased 8-in. x 4-in. loaf pans.
    Bake at 325° for 55-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks. Yield: 2 loaves.
    A to Z Ingredients:

    Apples, peeled and shredded
    Apricots (dried), chopped
    Bananas (ripe), mashed
    Carrots, shredded
    Dates, pitted and chopped
    Eggplant,chopped small
    Figs (dried), chopped
    Grapes (seedless), chopped
    Honey (omit sugar)
    Lemons( 1/2 c juice)
    Oranges, peeled and chopped
    Peaches, peeled and chopped
    Pears, peeled and chopped
    Pineapple (canned), crushed and drained
    Prunes, 1 c, pitted and chopped
    Pumpkin, canned
    Peppermint , 1/2 c,crushed
    Raisins,(soak in warm water,drained)
    Raspberries, unsweetened fresh or frozen
    Rhubarb, chopped fresh or frozen
    Strawberries, fresh or frozen
    Tomatoes,add 1/2 c sugar
    Sweet potatoes, cooked and mashed
    Zucchini, peeled and grated
