Ingredients

  • 1 cup + 2 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup dry milk powder
  • 1/3 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1/8 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon onion flakes, dehydrated
  • 1 x large egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup white wine or red wine
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano, dried
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

How To Make wine & cheese bread

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Sift together flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, salt, soda & dry milk. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Add sugar, minced onion, egg, milk, wine & oregano. Mix thoroughly.
  • Step 3
    Spread mixture in a greased 8" or 9" round pan & sprinkle with cheese.
  • Step 4
    Bake for 15 - 20 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
