These are perfectly soft, fluffy, and buttery sourdough rolls.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sourdough starter active and bubbly
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg for egg wash

How To Make sourdough dinner rolls

  • Step 1
    In a stand mixer, add all ingredients except the egg until well incorporated. Knead on speed 2 for about 15 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Place in a greased bowl and cover with a towel. Allow to rise overnight, about 12 hours.
  • Step 3
    The next day, divide the dough into 8 balls. Knead the balls, pushing and foldingthem, then finally into round balls.
  • Step 4
    Place on a greased baking sheet. Cover with a moist towel.
  • Step 5
    Let rise for another 2 hours.
  • Step 6
    Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Step 7
    Beat the egg with a little water. Brush each ball with egg wash.
  • Step 8
    Bake for about 30 minutes or until nicely browned.
