Sesame Onion Rolls

April McIver

These are based on the Beautiful Burger Buns recipe from King Arthur Flour. I swapped out part of the flour for whole wheat and added some flavor. They make good sandwich or burger rolls, or dinner rolls.

How to Make Sesame Onion Rolls

  1. Combine and knead dough ingredients together until smooth - I just pop it in the Kitchenaid mixer.
  2. Cover and let rise 1-2 hours until doubled.
  3. Deflate and divide dough into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball, then flatten slightly.
  4. Arrange dough on a lightly greased or parchment lined baking sheet, cover and let rise an hour.
  5. In a small bowl, combine egg white and water to form eggwash. Brush over tops of buns gently.
  6. Sprinkle over any combination of seasoning toppings you like - I don't measure, I just shake until it has however much I want, but I tried to estimate how much. I like a lot on there!
  7. Bake in a preheated 375 oven 15 - 18 minutes until golden.
