Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups self rising white cornmeal
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
- 3 tablespoons bacon drippings or vegtable oil
How To Make mom's easy cornbread

Step 1in a large cast iron skillet or an 9X11 cake pan pour in bacon place in preheated 400 degree oven to preheat DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP! leave in oven for appox. 5 minutes

Step 2in a large mixing bowl mix all ingredients together with a large spoon use a rapid stiring motion, if batter is too thick add small amount of buttermilk to thin out, consistancy should be more thin after this. pour batter into hot pan immediately, bake for 45 min or until top is browned (HINT check for doneness by sticking a tooth pick in center it should come out clean when done)
