These little loaves look so cute in a gift basket and taste so yummy. When I make them for gifts, I have to make sure I include my husband on my gift list!

Ingredients

  • 1 package active dry yeast (1/4 ounce)
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water (110° to 115°)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 3 to 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • - melted butter

How To Make mini cheesy french loaves

  • Step 1
In a bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add the sugar, seasonings, cheese, and 2 cups flour; beat until smooth. Add enough of the remaining flour to form a soft dough. Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
  • Step 2
Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  • Step 3
Punch down; divide in half. Roll each half into a 15 x 10 inch rectangle. Roll up from long side; seal well. Cut each into three 5 inch loaves; seal ends. Place seam side down on a greased baking sheet. Brush loaves with water. Cover with plastic wrap which has been coated with cooking spray. Let rise until nearly double in size about 30 minutes.
  • Step 4
With a very sharp knife, make three shallow diagonal cuts across the top. Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden. Remove from pan; cool on a wire rack and brush with the melted butter.
  • Step 5
Note: The prep time includes the rising time.
