Ingredients

3 c
flour
2 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
baking soda
1 tsp
salt
1/3 c
sugar
1/2 c
golden raisins
1 Tbsp
caraway seeds
1 1/2 c
buttermilk

How to Make Irish Soda Bread

Step-by-Step

  • 1Heat oven to 350 degrees. Sift together dry ingredients. Stir in raisins and caraway seeds. Mix in buttermilk to make a semi-sticky dough.
  • 2Knead 3 to 5 minutes on a floured surface. Shape into a ball.
  • 3Bake in an oiled and floured round cake pan for about 1 hour. Bread is done when you tap it with your knuckle and it makes a hollow sound.
