I just love dumplings. My DH, not as much..so if I cook them I have to eat them. So no photo for a while.

I have tried a whole lot of recipes for dumplings and this is the one!
I did tweak a few things.
This can be used for a chicken or beef stew or soup.

1/4 tsp
1 tsp
baking soda
2 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
dried thyme (minced)
1/2 tsp
dried parsley
1/2 tsp
dried oregano
3 Tbsp
butter (cold)
3/4 c
milk (use buttermilk if you have extra)

How to Make Herbed Dumplings


  • 1In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and spices together with a wire whip.
  • 2Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • 3Gradually add milk, using just enough to form a thick bater.
  • 4Drop by rounded tablespoons into your simmering soup or stew.

    Cover and allow to cook for 15 minutes.
