I just love dumplings. My DH, not as much..so if I cook them I have to eat them. So no photo for a while.

I have tried a whole lot of recipes for dumplings and this is the one!
I did tweak a few things.
This can be used for a chicken or beef stew or soup.

  • 1 1/2 c
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried thyme (minced)
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried parsley
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter (cold)
  • 3/4 c
    milk (use buttermilk if you have extra)

How to Make Herbed Dumplings


  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and spices together with a wire whip.
  2. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add milk, using just enough to form a thick bater.
  4. Drop by rounded tablespoons into your simmering soup or stew.

    Cover and allow to cook for 15 minutes.
