I have tried a whole lot of recipes for dumplings and this is the one!
I did tweak a few things.
This can be used for a chicken or beef stew or soup.
1 1/2 cflour
1 tspbaking soda
2 tspbaking powder
1/2 tspdried thyme (minced)
1/2 tspdried parsley
1/2 tspdried oregano
3 Tbspbutter (cold)
3/4 cmilk (use buttermilk if you have extra)
How to Make Herbed Dumplings
- In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and spices together with a wire whip.
- Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add milk, using just enough to form a thick bater.
- Drop by rounded tablespoons into your simmering soup or stew.
Cover and allow to cook for 15 minutes.
