focaccia
I love this bread. Crunchy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. It's so easy to make.

Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups warm water
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 5 cups 00 flour or all-purpose flour, plus extra
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 cup extra virgin olive oil
- coarse sea salt
How To Make focaccia
-
Step 1Place the yeast in the warm water and add the sugar. Let the yeast activate for about 15 minutes.
-
Step 2In a stand mixer with a hook, add the flour, salt, and 1/2 cup of olive oil. Add the yeast mixture. Once the dough has come together, let it knead for 5 to 10 minutes. Add a bit of flour if the dough is too sticky.
-
Step 3Oil a bowl with olive oil, and round the dough into a ball and place it in the bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit in a warm place until it doubles in size, about an hour.
-
Step 4In a rimmed baking sheet, add the remaining olive oil. Place the dough in the oil and press it out evenly. Poke finger holes all over the dough. Wrap with plastic and let sit for another hour.
-
Step 5Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Drizzle a little more olive oil over the bread and sprinkle with coarse sea salt. Let bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the bread is golden brown.
