A nice breakfast for chilly mornings. Slice, toast and enjoy with butter and your favorite jam or jelly. I like honey butter!

Ingredients

  • 2 packages active dry yeast
  • 6 cups flour (unsifted)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • - cornmeal

How To Make english muffin bread

  • Step 1
    Combine 3 cups of flour, yeast, sugar, salt and soda.
  • Step 2
    Heat liquids until very warm (120-130 degrees on candy thermometer). Add to dry ingredients and beat well.
  • Step 3
    Stir in the rest of the flour to make a stiff flour.
  • Step 4
    Spoon into two greased loaf pans that have been sprinkled with cornmeal. Sprinkle tops with cornmeal.
  • Step 5
    Cover and let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
  • Step 6
    Bake at 400 for 25 minutes.
  • Step 7
    Remove from pans immediately. Cool completely. Slice and toast.
