Ingredients

1 pkg
active dry yeast
1/2 c
lukewarm water
1 c
cottage cheese
2 1/2 c
sifted flour
1 Tbsp
instant onion
1
beaten egg
1 Tbsp
dill seed
2 Tbsp
sugar
1 tsp
salt
1/4 tsp
baking soda

How to Make Dilly Bread

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Heat cottage cheese to lukewarm, stirring constantly. Combine dissolved yeast and warm cottage cheese in large bowl.
  • 2Add remaining ingredients and beat well. Cover. Let rise 1 hour.
    Turn out on floured board and knead until smooth. Shape into 2 loaves. Let rise until double.
  • 3Bake 45-50 minutes. While bread is warm, brush with butter and sprinkle lightly with salt. I do not put bread in a pan to bake. I just roll dough into 2 balls and place on a well greased baking sheet.
