Ingredients

  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 2 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tablespoon instant onion
  • 1 - beaten egg
  • 1 tablespoon dill seed
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

How To Make dilly bread

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Heat cottage cheese to lukewarm, stirring constantly. Combine dissolved yeast and warm cottage cheese in large bowl.
  • Step 2
    Add remaining ingredients and beat well. Cover. Let rise 1 hour. Turn out on floured board and knead until smooth. Shape into 2 loaves. Let rise until double.
  • Step 3
    Bake 45-50 minutes. While bread is warm, brush with butter and sprinkle lightly with salt. I do not put bread in a pan to bake. I just roll dough into 2 balls and place on a well greased baking sheet.
