Ingredients

  • 1 pkg
    active dry yeast
  • 1/2 c
    lukewarm water
  • 1 c
    cottage cheese
  • 2 1/2 c
    sifted flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    instant onion
  • 1
    beaten egg
  • 1 Tbsp
    dill seed
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking soda

How to Make Dilly Bread

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Heat cottage cheese to lukewarm, stirring constantly. Combine dissolved yeast and warm cottage cheese in large bowl.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and beat well. Cover. Let rise 1 hour.
    Turn out on floured board and knead until smooth. Shape into 2 loaves. Let rise until double.
  3. Bake 45-50 minutes. While bread is warm, brush with butter and sprinkle lightly with salt. I do not put bread in a pan to bake. I just roll dough into 2 balls and place on a well greased baking sheet.
