This recipe was given to my husband from a little old lady in a nurseing home he worked at. I made these when I owned my bakery and couldn't keep them on the shelf.

How to Make Cheese Straws

Step-by-Step

  1. Allow cheese and margarine to reach room temp. or become soft.
    Grate the cheese.
  2. Mix all the ingredients together.
Fill a cookie press with the dough.
Line cookie sheet with waxed paper.
Using press, put the dough onto cookie sheet and cut into the desired length.
  3. cook in 325 degree ocen for approximately 15 min or until slightly brown. Cool on brown paper.
  4. You can use a rolling pin and roll these out on a flour service. Roll real thin and cut into strips. I hated useing the press it was a pain. Also if you want to add more cayenne for a tangier straw do so.
