A fellow charity worker brought this to a luncheon--and I was hooked! This is better than any "beer batter bread I have ever made!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup warm, flat beer (105-115 degrees)
  • 1 - envelope dry yeast
  • 1 - egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3/4 cup peeled, seeded, chopped ripe tomato
  • 3/4 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 - pieces bacon, cooked extra crisp
  • 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour

How To Make cheddar bacon beer bread

  • Step 1
    Combine beer and yeast in mixing bowl and let stand until yeast is dissolved; add remaining ingredients and blend well.
  • Step 2
    Pour into a greased 9x5 loaf pan, cover with towel, and let rise until doubled (about an hour).
  • Step 3
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step 4
    Bake 30 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Let cool 10 minutes, then remove from pan and finish cooling on a wire rack.
