A fellow charity worker brought this to a luncheon--and I was hooked! This is better than any "beer batter bread I have ever made!

3/4 c
warm, flat beer (105-115 degrees)
envelope dry yeast
egg, beaten
1/4 c
1/4 c
olive oil
3/4 c
peeled, seeded, chopped ripe tomato
3/4 c
grated sharp cheddar cheese
pieces bacon, cooked extra crisp
3 1/2 c
all purpose flour

How to Make Cheddar Bacon Beer Bread


  • 1Combine beer and yeast in mixing bowl and let stand until yeast is dissolved; add remaining ingredients and blend well.
  • 2Pour into a greased 9x5 loaf pan, cover with towel, and let rise until doubled (about an hour).
  • 3Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 4Bake 30 minutes.
  • 5Let cool 10 minutes, then remove from pan and finish cooling on a wire rack.
