A fellow charity worker brought this to a luncheon--and I was hooked! This is better than any "beer batter bread I have ever made!

  • 3/4 c
    warm, flat beer (105-115 degrees)
  • 1
    envelope dry yeast
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 1/4 c
  • 1/4 c
    olive oil
  • 3/4 c
    peeled, seeded, chopped ripe tomato
  • 3/4 c
    grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4
    pieces bacon, cooked extra crisp
  • 3 1/2 c
    all purpose flour

How to Make Cheddar Bacon Beer Bread


  1. Combine beer and yeast in mixing bowl and let stand until yeast is dissolved; add remaining ingredients and blend well.
  2. Pour into a greased 9x5 loaf pan, cover with towel, and let rise until doubled (about an hour).
  3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  4. Bake 30 minutes.
  5. Let cool 10 minutes, then remove from pan and finish cooling on a wire rack.
