My Grandmother always said when gnats are flying the bananas are ready. To this day, I only use bananas that have black spots as that's when the flavor is fullest.

Ingredients For banana nut bread

1/2 cshortening

2/3 csugar

2eggs
-
1 tspvanilla extract

1 tspbaking soda

1 tspbaking powder

1/4 tspsalt

2 cflour
-
1 cripe bananas
-
2 Tbspcold water
-
1/4 cchopped nuts (optional)
How To Make banana nut bread

1Combine baking soda, baking powder, salt, and flour, set aside

2Cream shortening and sugar

3Add eggs and vanilla, mix

4Mix in dry ingredients

5Add bananas, water, chopped nuts, mix (just enough to mix all ingredients together)

6Pour into loaf pan sprayed with Pam and Bake @ 350 degrees for 50 minutes (or test by sticking a butter knife in middle and pull out..if knife is clear..it's done)

7Using a butter knife, go along edges for easy removal. Place on a wire rack to cool...Enjoy!!
