Basic Stuffing Mix is also used for preparing Pork Sausage Stuffing, Sage Stuffing and Savory Stuffing. Can also be frozen for later use.

Ingredients

  • BASIC STUFFING
  • 8 cups soft bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup butter (or sausage drippings)
  • 1 large onion, grated
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • PORK SAUSAGE STUFFING
  • 1/2 pound pork sausage
  • - basic stuffing mix
  • SAGE STUFFING
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons sage
  • - basic stuffing mix
  • SAVORY STUFFING
  • 3/4 teaspoon thyme
  • 3/4 teaspoon marjoram
  • 3/4 teaspoon sage
  • - basic stuffing mix

How To Make stuffing mix

  • Step 1
    Basic Stuffing: Tear or grate bread.( if using crusts, cut into fine shreds.) Mix together crumbs and soft butter, onion, salt and pepper. Add desired seasonings. Toss together lightly
  • Step 2
    Pork Sausage Stuffing; Brown sausage over medium heat, breaking apart with fork. (Sausage drippings can be used in basic stuffing mixture). Add sausage to basic stuffing mixture and mix well.
  • Step 3
    Sage Stuffing: Add to basic stuffing mixture; mix well.
  • Step 4
    Savory Stuffing: Add seasonings to basic stuffing mixture; mix well.
  • Step 5
    Note: A one pound loaf of bread makes about 10 cups of bread crumbs.
