I found this recipe in an old cookbook. Very easy to make and very good to eat

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup cold butter or margarine
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 - egg,lightly beaten

How To Make sugar 'n' spice muffins

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl combine flour and sugar. Cut in butter until crumbly.Set aside 1/2 cup for topping. Add baking soda, cinnamon, and cloves to remaining crumb mixture. Mix buttermilk and egg together, Stir into crumb mixture until just moistened.
  • Step 2
    Fill greased or paper lined muffin tins 2/3 full. Sprinkle with reserved topping. Bake at 375* 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pan.
  • Step 3
    NOTE: You can use sour milk if you don't have buttermilk. Place 1 Tablespoon of white vinegar in a liquid measuring cup and add enough milk to make 1 cup. let stand 5 min.before using.
