This is an old recipe from the 60's and I always get rave reviews from it. Recipe can be doubled. Can also be made into muffins.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 3 - ripe bananas
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 12 ounces chocolate chips

How To Make mom's banana nut bread

  • Step 1
    combine 1st 5 ingredients and set aside. mix sugar and shortening well then add eggs and mix well.
  • Step 2
    mash ripe bananas on a separate plate. Add 1/2 of bananas to sugar mixture and mix. then add 1/2 of flour mixture and mix. then repeat with remainder. do not overmix. Add walnuts and chocolate chips and stir in.
  • Step 3
    Use a bread loaf pan greased and floured. Bake 350, 55 minutes. test with a toothpick.
  • Step 4
    I like to double this recipe and make 1 loaf and 12 muffins. for muffins grease and flour 12 cupcake pan and bake 350, 25 minutes.
